Art Medium: Jewelry
A lifelong artist, I have worked in all forms of media including drawing,
painting, knitting, crocheting, stained glass, and now jewelry design. I
believe my interest in the intricate nature of jewelry making was sparked at an early age, as I watched my grandmother (Noni) create beautifully detailed doilies and tablecloths. Also a gifted weaver, she took found objects and materials and created one of a kind rugs that served our family for decades. As potent expressions of her love, we felt the gift of her talent and presence in them long after she was gone.
The appreciation of the magic of the creative process and the use of color as a means of expression was something I learned from her, and it is something that I experience each time I make a piece of jewelry. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing someone happy and excited about a piece that I created, because I hope to give to them what my grandmother gave to me: Joy. And I hope that they experience it each time they wear it.
